Eight and Half Month Update

Yeah I'm pretty lame for not updating this blog more often, but Jami and I are in a groove right now...get up at 6 AM, take care of the girls, try to get ready for work, go to work, get through the work day, take care of the girls from 5 PM to 7 PM, eat dinner, get 30 - 60 minutes to ourselves, run errands or clean up, get some sleep. Riveting, isn't it? Anyway, there isn't much time to do anything else like blogging, doing anything fun, finishing up the taxes, paying bills, etc.

So the girls went to their nine month PT appointment yesterday. All is well in terms of development and Sidney is now officially the fatty face of the two. She is like four ounces heavier than Addy now! Sid is 16 pounds 12 ounces, do the math on Addy. Both are about 25 inches long, and their heads are gigantic.

Since I'm a former consultant and am typically very anal and logical, here are my bullet points of updates for the girls.
  • BARFING - This used to be the biggest complaint we had on the girls. Surprisingly they rarely spit up or barf. Knock on wood, but all of sudden they just stopped puking at every turn. Of course there is the occasional heave-ho, but that is maybe once or twice a week. We don't know if it is because they are off breast milk, or if the solids are helping or what, but no more constant cleaning up. Thank God!
  • EATING - The girls are now eating baby food. The typical bananas, other fruits, sweet potatoes, peas, other greens, etc. The fav for them has to be carrots and bananas. They LOVE these two. They also take in cereal and still take a bottle...damn formula is expensive!!! We are trying homemade baby food, but only succeed every once in awhile. We bought the Baby Food book that gives you all sorts of ideas and stuff. But c'mon I barely have time to eat my own food let alone make something for the girls. So we are buying baby food jars.
  • DEVELOPMENT - Like I mentioned the girls are growing and growing. If any of you have seen their thighs, you know what I mean. Sid rolls over both ways, Addy is only can go from tummy to back. But she's getting there. Our PT said they are ahead of the curve for 6 month olds, and they are much more interactive these days...picking up toys they know, listening for sounds, making eye contact (or lack of it when they aren't in the mood), and just being babies.
  • COMMUNICATION - Addy's preferred method of communicating is screaming like a cat that is being attacked by a cougar. It's loud, annoying, and makes you wonder how people are all happy that they have children. They also make all those typical baby sounds, but who can hear that when your ear drums are shattered from Addy.
  • SLEEP - The girls basically sleeping through the night. They go down around 7 - 8 PM and are up at 6 AM. Addy likes to get up in the middle of the night still, but we don't know why. Sometimes it is 2 AM or 5 AM. So one of us gets up and tries to silence her...sometimes with love, sometimes in pure rage and anger. Whatever, I don't get it.
  • US - We are tired! Not like the up every 3 to 4 hours tired, but we are tired.
  • NANNY - Our new nanny is working out well. We wish she spoke English better, but I think I'm just going to ask her to speak Filipino to the girls. The girls are so happy to see her each morning, and they seem very attached to her.
Anyway...we are all doing well. Jami and I could both use a break. Maybe a vacation, maybe we can just ditch the girls in Iowa on a farm. Dunno.

Lastly...the girls keep on getting kicked out of church. At first we would take them into service with us, but they are so loud we had to give them up to the church nursery people. At first, we were like thank you Lord! Then our number kept on getting called. At this church they give you a number for each kid at check in. If your kid is a crazy lunatic they put your number on this big screen to come calm your kid down. So five out of the last six weeks our number has been called on the screen. It is usually and surprisingly Sid almost all the time. So we end up leaving early because the people at church can't control our psycho kids. It's been a long road so far, but at least we haven't killed one of them yet. More to come...
